Re: SdKfz. 251/7 Ausf. C two times at the crossroads
Thanks Rob !
I went ahead and added some decals, fairly generic selection with some earlier sophistication remaining...it's a 251 Ausf. C after all, introduced way back in late '41 but in use until the end because it had been in production until early '43. Thus it still has the designator panel, a number plate (though it will probably be almost completely covered in mud, it's the thought that counts ) and a stencil on in the rear designating it a pioneer command vehicle - all the little bureaucratic details the D usually didn't bother with .
The damaged front light may end up being torn off and replaced with some leftover wires .
Best regards

Re: SdKfz. 251/7 Ausf. C two times at the crossroads
Ahhh..complication time!
Looks nice, doesn't it? With the Sturmstege being well used steel, after all they are essentially steel girders with some profile...
Except of course some research prompted by the AFVClub model and backed up by photographic evidence in the catalogue of the Panzermuseum in Munster (though virtually impossible to find this info on the web...) reveals that they are indeed metal girders... with a layer of wood on top .
So I had to correct it...it was a bit annoying (I recognized it late at night and had a sleep deprivation induced fit of anger and broke a brush... ) but eventually I fixed it (of course...it's not that hard.... )...
So while I'm usually the first general, in this case and way too often I was the last none => https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_Z6tv7cQmM

And on we go!
Oils! Yay... looks a lot like the last pic, I know .
I also noticed something on the coat/parka that we get from the additional DS sprue with..err.. stuff.
It's a Luftwaffe item ... almost completely useless with a distinctly Heer vehicle.... but hey, it's for the box o' stuff...
Best regards

Re: SdKfz. 251/7 Ausf. C two times at the crossroads
I started the AFV Club 251C/7.
It must be a rule that even a manufacturer that until now was, at least to me, synonymous with exceedingly well fitting small parts and great engineering has to produce a 251 that has problems with the hull angles and several cases of ill fitting parts.
Gods forbid the possibility of a well engineered 251. Why it would be unthinkable! The world might come to an end!
=>
And no, the Dragon 251C is obviously not done but I will do the tracks once I've roughly sketched out the diorama and decided on the colour and consistency of the mud .
Best regards

You are going so quickly Raoul, I feel like I'm building at a snails pace in comparison.
It all looks great by the way.

Seems like building a 251 C is some sort of initiation rite for every halftrack modeller....
Do you think someone would notice if my unstarted 251 build would mysteriously disappear overnight?

Well.. given the plethora of half-track builds certainly nobody would...oh wait... it's just two builds...yes...we would notice...and glare at you with deep reproach in our hollow eyes...well I would at least
