Prime mover for LeFH 18?

I'm going to build the AFV Club LeFH 18 for the towed artillery GB, but was wondering what prime mover should go with it (and is available in kit form!) A little research suggests that it should be the Sd.Kfz.11, however AFV Club have discontinued production of the model. They do a late version, but I think this would be more suited to a LeFH 18M or 18/40.

I know that there was a lot of pick'n'mix going on in the German army during the war, so would it be unreasonable to see a late Sd.Kfz.11 towing an early LeFH 18, both in yellow?

All types of artillery were around until the end, so it's completely possible to mix and match :)

I don't suppose horses are an option, so I guess you would be fine with a Sd.Kfz. 7, under some circumstances even a Sd.Kfz. 10 would work. A RSO is possible too:

Or you could do the same as Raoul and use a Sd.Kfz 251.

If you want something different, how about a Panzer 35(t), Hotchkiss or Renault converted to a prime mover?

Many thanks for the info Philipp!

Yeah, no horses (can't paint!), so I've been looking around at the cheapest halftrack options. I think I'll go for the AFV Club Sd.Kfz.11 Late -- about the cheapest kit I've found for the options available.

If you do get a chance to build Dragon's little RSO, its a cute little model.

Bronco also do the Sd.KfZ 6 artillery tractor, again used for the LeFH

Hi John, Vlad, many thanks!

The AFV Club kits is still the cheapest option for me -- as I don't tend to build WWII, let along German WWII, I'll stick with the most cost effective!

I'll be starting the blog tonight, working on the arty first :)
