Current WIP

Post by Vlad Seabrook-Smith »

As mentioned on the 'Hey chaps' thread this is what I'm working on at the moment.

First up a Churchill Mk III, I decided to mark it up as a Russian lend lease, using some decals from Inside the armour, fairly straight forward build and quite enjoyed it, since found out the SSC2 is too light, that's what happens when you follow mixing instructions and conversion charts and no marker to compare it too!

Still very much work in progress on the weathering, which is what this has become consigned too, a carriage for weathering practice.

Next up is this little beauty, and I have to say my first Miniart kit, and what an amazing little kit, its the Harley WLA from the motorcycle repair box. Have to say its converted me to their kits, so much so I bought another of theirs but more of that later.

Vlad - why do you say that the SCC2 is too light?- looks fine from here - usual thing about fading - different paint mixes etc

As you know - Love the bike - The Churchill looks Fab too

Keep it coming

Philipp :D thanks fella

Steve, Thanks matey but technically its not, needs a brake cable  I'm trying to be more conscientious with my projects, how long that will last is.............ooo look new project

Rob, I was told the SS2 should be more brown...... but I followed the Mike Starmer formula (the recognised authority of course) converting the humbrol to lifecolor and ended up with this shade, its like something that came out of a fresh nappy/diaper. But totally agree with your re paint colours and their mixes and then subsequent weathering. SS2 varied apparently due to shortages, they were looking for a more green shade but could never produce enough due to lack of green pigments at the time. but as a project its one I'm pretty happy with.

Another project, this one is close to the end of construction, Dragon early Jagdpanther base, with Atak zimmerit, Griffon etch and an Aber barrel, I have tried to use Bronco's indie tracks but the pitch is slightly off and doesn't fit the sprocket, so may have to use the magic tracks.

Nice. I have that kit in my stash with one of Aber's 'super sets'. Hopefully I can do as good a job as you when I get round to building it.
