That does sound like a good idea. :)
Except that most of the kits my brother and I grew up building would be out of production collectibles now! :lol:

I’m up for that, thinking the Tamiya Merkava MkI that I won the local hobby shop junior prize with in 1986 (age 12) could be rebuilt, it’s still in production! I remember following a FineScale Modeller article on “superdetailing” the kit. I still have the magazine (now in digital) and could recreate the entire build :D

Looks like we finally found something popular :lol:

My first 1/35 kit, built about 2005, was Dragon's Sdkfz 250/3 command vehicle, complete with a Rommel figure. Might be tempting to do it again, if I can find it somewhere.......

I know you wrote Dragon - but guess it actually is the Tamiya, which can be found on evilbay reasonably cheap ;)

Nope, really Dragon....back then reboxed by Revell. The good thing is, the original Dragon version is fairly cheap on Ebay as well :mrgreen:

Sounds like a splendid idea!

Though I suppose that's more or less precisely what I did last time :lol: !

Now, what to do, what to do... I could build another Iosif Stalin II, the last one was even before modelarmour :lol: .
Or really REALLY retro and get another Italeri Sturmtiger :?:
Maybe a Tamiya IVD... no wait... :lol: :lol:

We have to go ahead with this now, I've spent a goodly amount of time going through digital back issues of Fine Scale Modeller and I've found the article I used, FSM 1986 Issue 21 May/June pp 43-49 by Terry Sunday.

...I may have also ordered the kit and some extras from HobbyEasy :lol:

Sounds good :lol:

How about April 1st until June 30?

As for me....I exhumed some highly questionable photos of atrocities from ages past...I spare you the unspeakable horrors in 1/72 scale :lol:

Miniart T-70....in solid Revell No. 16:
Image

Trumpeter KV-1....I'd just need to get a new one from the basement :P Note the glorious chaos of a 1st year university student in the back....
Image

Trumpeter Sturer Emil....I wanted to do a new one for years. But then with new tracks, obviously.
Image

Lastly, the aforementioned 250/3, oldest of the bunch. It shows...
Image

I might pick one of these. I'm open to suggestions :lol:

All right, with the help of the archivist of the Jewish museum (you might know of whom I speak :lol: ) I managed to dig out the most likely of the available options, some of those I was initially considering where already way too good, so here's the list, If you happen to have any preferences feel free to post them! :D

DML Panther A with my first attempt at Zimmerit, the simple rectangular type because... well... 'twas simple :lol: =>
Image
Pros: it's a Panther and it could really be redone properly.
Cons: it's a DML Panther that is either unavailable currently or laughably expensive

DML StuG III Ausf. B=>
Image
Pros: Should be available either in an Orange Box or cheap on evilbay.
Cons: It's a StuG III Ausf. B, I've done what feels like a gazillion (probably ~three...) of those in the past decade...

DML Panther late pattern Ausf. G =>
Image
Pros: It's cool looking. It's a late pattern with the iconic chinned mantlet. It was the very first smart kit from back before it became a curse word.
Cons: It's a DML Panther. It will be either not currently available or horrible expensive.

Tristar Marder III H=>
Image
Pros: it really cool looking, it's readily available from HoBo, it has an entire motor block and it built really fluently for such a fiddly kit back then!
Cons: err.. needs figures I suppose?

Tristar Panzer I Ausf. A=>
Image
Pros: simple, fast, very nice interbellum feel, weird Reichswehresque camo possible for very early Wehrmacht (see Steve's builds for that matter). I have one sitting here (HoBo be praised!).
Cons: A bit fiddly, feels a lot like 72nd braille scale.

Tristar Panzer IV Ausf. C=>
Image
Pros: little seen version of the iconic medium tank, cool options, distinct look with the straight front plate not seen again until the Ausf. F, readily available via HoBo. Edit: I actually have a HoBo kit here... it's right in line with my head, half a meter away slantwise :lol:....
Cons: Might be a little boring.

DML Iosif Stalin II heavy tank =>
Image
Pros: not a German tank. I like big guns and I can not lie. Iconic Berlin Operation pattern possible. I have one right here.
Cons: it's a fairly simple kit with some errors if my recollection is right.

So, if we go with this topic be so kind to help me decide! :lol:
