Re: 2017 Group Build Pt. 1: Self Propelled Guns / Panzer 38(
Welcome back Mr. W
After much debate we've settled on any self-propelled gun that is capable of indirect firing by design. Basically classic artillery only, but most assault guns count too.

Hello Mr. G
So what about this?
It is classed as a Self Propelled Gun, and mounts the Type 90 field gun, but it was used as a direct fire anti tank weapon.

That blurs the lines a little ..........................

Wikipedia says:
Very interesting subject!

So I guess that's okay thenThe Type 1 Ho-Ni I was the first self-propelled gun design of this particular type. They were meant to be self-propelled artillery and tank destroyers for armored divisions.
Very interesting subject!

Would an SU-85 count as an SPG?

According to Wikipedia, yes : "The SU-85 (Samokhodnaya ustanovka 85) was a Soviet self-propelled gun used during World War II, based on the chassis of the T-34 medium tank."Bryan Krueger wrote:Would an SU-85 count as an SPG?

Technically we've decided on self-propelled artillery, which the folks have defined as anything that shoots indirectly. Not sure if the SU-85 could do that though.
To be honest it doesn't really matter as long as everyone has fun

They were used as direct fire artillery in support of the infantry.

As far as I'm concerned I see no issue with expanding the focus on assault guns in general.
