It's been a number of months since I made any progress on this. But with the Star Wars Lander complete, it was time to go back and finish it up.

I need some advice, guys. I think something may have gone terribly wrong in a Frankensteinian sort of way. It's Carl, the workbot. He's sort of taken on a life of his own and I'm not sure I like the way he's headed.

So...Carl needed some arms. And I had this idea about biomechanical augmentation. And well, there was this great picture of the musculature of a gorilla.

And so I thought that gorilla arms would be pretty neat. And there was this tub of epoxy putty and well........

Well here's Carl now:

Not sure that was such a good idea.

But hell or high water, at this point I plan to finish the scene no matter what.

Not sure I like the arms but you have to remember the source. I don't built anything other than armor.

Either way I will be following the build.

I really like the idea! How about painting the muscles in some greyish metal colour to suggest they are made from some nano-carbon-fiber stuff instead of being biological in nature?

I couldn't possibly use grey. It would clash with the red trim! :D

I thought about a whole range of colors for the "muscle" groups. But in the end I decided that if I was going to go weird, then I was going to go very, very weird. Which for me isn't actually too far off from normal.

Oh well, the cybernetic Gorilla workbot is fine too. They grow these arms in bio-vats, right? :?

Progress on this diorama as well. (a compression of all the work done over 7 months)

In fact, there's only about 6 or 7 hours of work needed to complete the scene. I'm just being lazy.

I finished it.

No idea what happened at my photo hosting service. So you'll have to see the finished diorama at the Cold Basement website http://www.coldbasementmodels.com/?page_id=334

That is really neat John.

Missed you at the IPMS show. Man was it a great show. By Thursday night they had 1500 models entered. The show went through Saturday. I did not hear a final count but it was fun. I was there Thursday and Friday.
