That cork base is amazing! What material did you use?

Philipp
Thanks Philipp.

I bought the cork and a tool called the slicer from here : https://masterpiecemodels.com/product-c ... -supplies/

I meet the owner of the company a couple years ago at a show. Of course he was doing demonstrations and I was sold. Over all I think the prices are fair. I used 1.5 sheets of the 3mm cork for the road.

The slicer worked great, but it does not take long to dull the blade. The blade needs to be really sharp to make clean cuts.

I also really want to get a hold of the blue foam that people use to sculpt their own work with. That stuff looks amazing to. :D

Looks like great stuff, much better than the cork I've used so far. Now I only need to find a way to get it over here...

You said three days as if that was a long time  I'd say that was pretty fast for all that work, looks fantastic.

Me too Shawn

Balsa foam is ridiculously expensive, and very elusive, but Frerick's work is stunning  8-)

Blue Styrofoam is more available but still quite expensive too

I need something as a base, but I think your cork cobble-stoning will be too much for me at the moment

Excellent work, Shawn, good enough to be an Everett creation ;)

well done

For anyone looking for blue foam, here is a source I found on ebay. DioDepot

I haven't ordered from them or gotten foam from them. I think blue foam is the same as what I can get here in DIY stores. The biggest difference being the thinner sheets blue foam is available in which might ultimately get me to pick some up.

By the way, project looks great Shawn.

Philipp- They might ship it to you.

Steve- It really did not take that long, using the right tools. Give it a go.

Chris- The first day was the worst getting everything laid out. I also cut most of the cobblestones the first day. Day 2 and 3 had me working a hour or so at a time, then taking a break.

Rob- Nice to have you stopping by. :D. I don't know about a tribute to Frerik's work though  . I just cut a few pieces of cork. He sculpts all his stuff. :D

Matt- Thanks, and its nice to see you stopping by as well.

No progress guys. I overscheduled myself this week working 108 hrs in 6 days.  Down to the last 48 hrs which started at 0730 and will be over at 0730 Monday morning.

Not much progress, but I have been scratch building a fence wall.

3 pieces of balsa wood were glued together and then I used cork for the stone.

Then using some thin plywood the lower wall section was cutout and some pieces of brick were added.

Using some Mini Art fence sections this is the over all look of the fence wall. Notihng is glued in place in this pic.

Using Magic-sculpt you get this. :D :D

Here is the overall look of the lay out. I used plaster wall patch to fill in the space between the bricks. I just realized taking these pictures I need to still build a small section of the lower fence wall. I wish I would have built the two together.

That fence looks excellent, and your simple method for making it is just brilliant.
