Re: Swamp Castle

I added some paint to give the infinite black abyss some semblance of a muddy swamp

Completely by accident I stumbled across an interesting effect. By combining water-thinned and alcohol-thinned acrylics I got some nice "swirly" effects, just like distortions in dirty water. Once dry I'll start pouring in the model water, getting the required mass might take a while... I'll most likely add more thin layers of paint inbetween to get a nice three-dimensional appearance.

To me that effect looks like oil seeping up from the submerged hull. Very convincing Philipp :D

I'm going to repeat this until I've reached the edge of the base. Hopefully it'll look good by then :?

Thanks Shawn! :)

Depending on the thickness of the layer about 2-3 days until it's rock hard - only then I dare add paint or anything else potentially reactive on top of it. Adding more artificial water however is possible once it's "mostly" hard. ;)

Nope, haven't forgotten about this. Adding layer after layer of artificial water just takes its time.... :?

Still not quite there yet....

Phillip this is an excellent small project, love it!

Being a swamp have you thought about fallen leaves, vegetation? understandably most would have been displaced by the vehicles hull, but would add that extra something.

The water effect is looking really good, impressed with that, what was the product again?
