Thanks Steve!
Yeah, green stuff would be an option, generally building them myself, thought I'm thinking of a mixture of options, say a multi-media like approach to the sandbags, because they where on the parapet yes, but also MASSIVELY on the parados, especially in German trenches, so I would prefer more erratically arranged individual units for the Entente trenches while I could arguably go with finished segments for the German ones with only minor individual units. I think my main problem with making them myself would be the sheer amount that I need. I would very much prefer to work with pre fabricated or proto-finished units because I'll have to build something in the vicinity of more than over a meter of zigzagging entrenched positions....

Anyway - I did some basic colour, minor shadings and all that on the MkIV ♂. Of course I heretically used OD with some light sand brown mixed in instead of procuring or mixing a WW1 era khaki drab...
It will be utterly dirty anyway... In the setup that I envision this tank will be breaking onto a forward trench (as if even I'd be insane enough to actually build a trench system...that would be more of an exercise in NATO-scale... ) ... so... yea... mud and all that...

Damnation! :!:
I found several sources claiming a khaki tinged green for the single colour British tanks but then about as many sources also say it's just a solid khaki... as in brown...

Anyone here with an authoritative source?

I suppose this tank might very well have to be re-painted... :?

No need to repaint it if you drown it in mud

I'll check my resources on the Mark IV.

Thanks! So it's brown after all...
Here's a bit of context why these mistakes happen to me, not really a matter of references, they just made it worse  .

Raoul, of course I was refering to your re-green blindness and you do sound like a bottom-cavity.     ;)
Only kidding.....    ;)
If I could give all my AFV shelf queens a paint job like that, they wouldn't be shelf queens.
It's a great paint job, I like it a lot.

Might be of some help for trench digging?

Thanks Michael! :D
And thanks for not being indignant ;) .

And thanks Steve for finding this site  - I've seen the trench "slices" sometimes but never found out where they're from - so I now have the details and source, already compared to my photo archive (it's already filled tons of trench photos ;) ) and I suppose it's nice for someone to have done all the "compare and filtering" research as to what is typical ;) .

I also re-painted the MkIV, I think it still looks decent - and brown! ;)

Now I'm thinking about weather or not to make this a specific tank with a name or something generic (more appropriate).
Maybe I'll try to dig up a list of named MkIVs and then give it a generic sounding unused name... something of this kind ;) .

So, after a week of way-too-hot horrible days in commuter hell (mope, whine, complain) I actually managed to get some minor progress done for the MkIV.

Now with 4 digit number sourced from a potentially (of course now no longer) Danish Staghound by cutting a single digit off... I hope 2156 isn't taken, but oh well... ;)

It won't have a name since the MkIV was already enough of a mass produced piece of hardware instead of a wonder weapon landship that not every single unit got a name.

This makes our landship here hopefully generic enough ;).

Now with some initial ageing and scratching =>
