D'oh!

Post by Gary Boxall »

Very un-clever move today. Managed to bend the end of my airbrush needle to a 90 degree angle  Have placed an order for a replacement - fortunately not expensive - but a very silly thing to do nevertheless

Been there, done that, Gary, even after treating the thing like the Hope Diamond! I now try to keep a couple of spare needles around...

Better than dropping your airbrush, which I have also done!

Hang in there!

It happens. I've dropped an AB more than once.

I'm guessing you've got a backup until the new parts arrive?

Silver lining time Gary: old airbrush needles are awesome for carving thing like balsa foam and plaster and they are excellent for scribing duties as well. And, yes, I know that because I've bent more than one of my own.

Me too  Luckily H+S needles are easy to come by unlike Revell or Iwata, another factor I took into account when I bought the Evolution.

Me three

I have 6 H&S springs too, along with many other bits and pieces and a service kit and well you know what I mean

Its an occupational hazard, and the needles are ever so useful for many other things, as Matt has already said ;)

Anyone else in the club?

I haven't ruined any airbrush needles recently but yesterday it took me half an hour and a full airbrush disassembly to figure out that the plug-in bottom feed paint cup was clogged

After ruining two expensive ABs in a row (there were no spares for one and the other I sent back for guarantee purposes and never wanted it replaced) I'm currently using a dirt cheap double action that for some insane reason is also the best I've used so far.... and it's a 17€ AB... maybe a positive freak accident?
It's probably working because I've hamstered (as in creating stores of items, not as in being horribly drunk  ) generic spare parts (needles, O-rings in all sizes...) so of course it's working perfectly...

I'm not a "expensive ABs are bad!" kind of hipster-like guy, I think I just had good luck with this one and bought expensive junk before  (...I hate Revell ABs...).
Eventually I'll follow the advice I got here and get a H&S one once the current one bites the dust ;) .

Best regards
