this thing is simply amazing Bryan. BY looking at those legs, I can certainly understand why they were challenging.
The detail of this kits looks really good.

Thanks all. It's such a classic design for me. I've waited about 36 years to have a build of the Schenkle.
Phil - In SF3D lore, the thing is an SDR (Strahl Democratic Republic) - "bad guys" - mobile command center. It is used to relay orders to autonomous vehicles like the
NutRocker unmanned tank. When the Mercs (Independent Mercenary Army) -"good guys" launched a surprise attack, they captured a bit of SDR equipment. The Mercs now use the Schenkle as command centers. over 500 were built so I imagine the SDR still have a few. It's a large piece of equipment to abandon.
I compiled an
introduction and timeline for MaK. Hopefully this explains a lot.

Thanks for the explanation and background info Bryan! A mobile command post makes a lot of sense. My other guess would have been a very oversized anti aircraft gun system

Phil - There is also a Lunar version with extra padding armor added. I'll see if I can find an image.
Steve - I've only assembled it, the design is stunning!

On with the paint. Black base paint with white squiggles as an undercoat for the top color.

I really like how it looks right now! Reminds me a lot of some German nightfighter schemes
