Revell 55 Chevrolet Bel Air Convertible
Hi Guys,
Here is my latest build. I needed something to fire up the creative juices and this kit was just sitting in the stash, staring back at me. To be honest I don't even know where it came from. Building cars is definitely different to building tanks I can tell you. I do appreciate the effort car guys put into getting the mirror paint finishes on their cars but to me they always seem a little toy like for my tastes. For my '55 I wanted something a bit more gritty and realistic.
This is what I came up with. I imagine it sitting in a Desert Junkyard waiting for someone to come in and rescue it for restoration. I dirtied up the interior and distressed the seats. All in all, this was a nice kit and the fitment issues I found were probably my fault.
I'm keen to do another one now
Cheers,
Vincent

Excellent work Vincent Got some more photos for the gallery?
The next one maybe with some applique armour and a .50 on a pintle to keep the Russkie paratroopers away from your front lawn?

How did you do the “crackle” effect on the rear seat backrest? AK effects?

I used Vallejo Crackle Medium Adam. It's a great product, very easy to use.

The pics are obviously of the real thing and will be used for reference. Can't wait to see you start the build and weave your usual magic.

Most excellent! Are you going to do one fully restored?

Thanks Mark. Unfortunately restored cars don't hold much interest for me. I much prefer the abandoned derelict look.
