HMS Anemone Flower class corvette
I know our esteemed colleague Rob has a strong interest in this project and I cant let him own this board all by his lonesome
So floating steel is great, no wheels as you may have heard me drone on before this has been a project that I have long yearned to build. Researching the project I came across HMS Anemone, one of the many flowers tasked with protecting the Atlantic convoys. And this she did with dedication and bravery, one convoy was infiltrated and attacked by a wolf pack which seperated the convoy to the four winds, she set about collecting her cares, and succeeded in escorting them all to safety with no loses, and arrived at harbour with a thick overcoat of ice and snow weighing in at approximately 200 tonnes! Inspiring stuff!
So with that said I dug a little deeper and discovered that she is of a similar build to the Bluebell.......... job done build on!
I shall say this here and now, due to the size of this project and my attention span this is a very long term project and I know some of you have seen this before so I apologise for repeating myself.
So here is the carcass, just a few parts of this are used.
And the rather extensive David J Parkins etch model! which is as beautiful as it is extensive.
Some of detail shots of the etch

Re: HMS Anemone Flower class corvette
So the build starts with the hull, four parts that don't match, details are wrong etc etc etc much sanding was involved to get the thickness of the hull plates down to some semblance of scale. The keel is wrong, and it skews the shape of the lower hull, so more sanding etc, the molded on eyebrows need removing, again more sanding
and these are the replacement eyebrows, and portholes.
I am using the original plastic deck to support the new etch deck.
And these are the forward deck components that are laminated together
And the rear deck
So many hours later with copious amounts of heat and solder we end up with this.
And reinforcement for the anchor chain to descend
Next up, various armour shields and deck fittings
The hedgehog anti submarine device, a beautiful little kit in itself.
I have some extra detailing to add
A quick dry fit to see how everything sits

Re: HMS Anemone Flower class corvette
The bandstand for the 4" was a beast of a job, but we got there!
I may have to remove these steps as they are not correct for Anemone.
That has pretty much brought me up to speed with the project that I have saved, unfortunately I lost some images I had of the work I started on the bridge, so off I go to sort that out now, in the meantime I will leave you with one of the Oerlikon AA gun positions that sit on the bridge wings.
The gun barrel has been cut back and replaced with some micro tube I had which magnificently turned out to be just the correct diameter.
I will add to this as and when.

And I thought the Scud was ambitious!
That must be the most amount of etch ever used on a single kit....and I witnessed Gary's work long enough
Outstanding work Vlad....this will be epic!

This is beyond impressive Vald!
This is...glorious for the lack of a better term.
I dabbled a bit with German imperial dreadnoughts way back even before MA, this wakens the urge again...
Best regards

My Hero
I am not worthy
That is the most ever impressive collection for a single build I have ever seen outside of a web site shop
My next project is soldering, Can I PM you for help
Please
Do you solder with an iron or flame
Still stunned, are you actually using much more plastic than you have already shown?
The hull and the rest for support for the brassware?
Most impressive, Party on Vlad

Re: HMS Anemone Flower class corvette
@ Philipp it is an epic project, one reason why I have not hit it hard, I new right from the get go it would be a very long term project, bite size sessions
@ Chris Always nuts!
@ Shawn Now there is a question...... basic plastic kit £40. The etch set was bought when GLS had a special new year sale on, I had also received a bonus from work otherwise it would never have happened, £270, going forward I have brass rod to buy, so about another £20, paint and crew figures as yet unknown, I think somewhere in the region of £400 when finished.....
https://www.djparkins.com/home.php?cat= ... er_page=50
And yes I started this some time back, so you have seen these pictures before, I wanted to start the blog again, properly after Rob asked the question on my return. This way I can add to it as and when I complete sections.
@ Raoul Do it! Do it! I also have a Bismark in 1/700 that I am working on slowly, plus a second schnellboot to get started again at some point. Ships! they are the new tanks!
@ Steve There will be a little more plastic, but not a lot As to soldering I'm more than happy to share how I do it , but Gary has done some excellent SBS?
@Vincent It looks a lot, and indeed it is, but when broken down into its relevant areas, its not so bad
Thanks for the interest and support guys, will get some photographs of where I'm up too at present.
