Revell 1/72 Gato Class Submarine "USS Growler"

Post by Michael Power »

Well, here we go with my first build blog, so here goes....

I picked this up for $40 at a swap & sell, the hull had already been glued together and the top deck had some modifications done to it, but that's for later. This will be a OOB, because I can't afford the huge range of aftermarket stuff.

I won't do a review of the kit as there are any number of them around and is not a new kit.

Just to give you an idea of the size of the box it comes in. That's a 1/35 King Tiger.

The hull had been started and before I realised I haven't taken any photo's this is where it is. The hull with side vent plates on and the bow attached. The bow is very basic and went together rather quickly. Hence the lack of photo's.

The background is of the USS Bowfin.

and no, it does not fit on my work bench.

That's it so far, be back same Bat time, same Bat channel.

Vincent you know what happens when it gets to painting, there will be a knock on your door for advice with the painting of a sub on the trailer outside your place.

Wow, that's a big one there Michael! :o

I suppose etch for this would also be safely ignored by me as well... it's big enough to be detailed enough anyway and etch for this would break the bank, no question... I mean this thing is huge!

Looking forward to progress! :D

It certainly is huge Raoul at 1.3mt, but nothing compared to your epic diorama build. ;)
