Canadian F/A-18a - COMPLETED
With my F-104G giving me grief at the moment, I decided to make use of the time I have available at the moment to push on.
Here is Academys 1/72 F/A-18a built OOB.
Was originally planning to go with the Aussie Hornet, but misread the instructions and drilled the hole (covered by yellow tape) for the Canadian variant... So Canada it is
After seeing Woodys great F-4F, decided I'd do this one in flight.
Got it built and painted in no time and have nearly finished the weathering.
Unlike my F-104, this one I'm liking the colours and weathering on this one.
Fuel tanks are done but weapons still need a final wash to pick out the details.
Hope to have this one wrapped up soon.
Thanks for looking

Although I'm disappointed you didn't go with the Aussie version, I really like what you've done so far Jurgen. The weathering is superb.
Cheers,

I quite like the grey scale on this. It's painted as if it were a larger scale model.

Nice work on the drop tanks, did you get the weathered effect just with pre-shading?

Thanks guys.
till I got the result I want.

Pretty much trial and error. Pre-shading, darker coat, salt, lighter coat followed by oil dot weathering. Found it was a little too strong an effect so misted a light coat over the topAdam Durrant wrote:Nice work on the drop tanks, did you get the weathered effect just with pre-shading?

Thanks Adam.
Funny that when you've got a fun build, nothing is too much effort
Update time.
Matte coat has been applied and I've attached the weapons and tail hook.
Base is prepared.
Just need to finish off the Nav lights, a couple touch ups on the paint and weathering and it'll ready for mounting.
Thanks for looking

Nice work Jurgs, how are you going to attach it to the base?

Hi Chris.
Plan is to mount a tube in via one of the exhaust nozzles and fix it to the base.
Fingers crossed I can get it to hold
