Build anything that cost less than £5, not including P&P!

Post by Steve Hutchinson »

Something of a change of pace, but fun all the same.

Built in a 3 month period and as long as it was under £5 anything goes.

1:72 Airfix Spitfire Mk 1, an E-bay find but something of a surprise as the bits were from a much better kit than the box art would have you think

He goes a story in pictures

putty masking which worked quite well

Very poor decals

All done, not the best, too much dust contamination and it is the only plane I have finished in 50 years, but not the last after this little sojourn!

Looks like a fun little project. I've got a 1/72 vintage Fujimi Zero kit that I might give a go at.

Interesting idea Steve, and a very good result :D

Not sure though if I have any kits that cost me less than 5.60€

Thanks for popping by chaps

The idea is quite simple, a search on E-bay with a cap on the cost, and see what there is, it will undoubtedly be something outside your comfort zone, but that is part of the fun/challenge too.

I also ""won"" 2 other Airfix 1/72 kits, a Hurricane and and the Bren carrier and 6 lb AT gun, which will get built one day too, the Bren & AT, especially as it was one of my 1st kits built back in the 60's.

I have it pencilled in as a retirement project.

I really enjoyed the build, and actually finished it!!!

I'll build a bigger one, one day, soon ish

Regards

Looks like that was a fun little project. The paint job came out well. I think we should all build a plane. I have a couple in the stash.

I'd do another one

Either a £5 max Ex P&P or 1:72 plane, I have one of each, and its usually a quicky as there are only 20/30 parts tops.

Model Minutes on You Tube does 1:72 planes with a brush, and Plasmo does absolute wonders with everything especially the 1:72 kits.

I shall get back to the Flak 20 now I have some crew, and I still have the other 1/2 of my SiFi X- wing fighter to do too!

Always good for a few months fun and games

I’ve got a wee stash of 1/48 aircraft that I had plans for and lots of aftermarket additions. The most significant is Eduards F-14 “Danger Zone”, I think it’s a HobbyBoss reboxing with Brazin cockpit. I purchased their aftermarket missile sets, engine sets, fabric seatbelts etc.etc. Cartograf did the decals. It’s another of those kits that’s too good for me at the moment.

Okay, any suggestions for duration and overall conditions? I'll gladly set up a subforum for it :)
