Hi From Downunder

Post by Norman Long »

Hi Guys

I'm new here and have been told about the site and had it highly recommended by a friend and member of our local modelling club here in Bendigo Australia

I make mostly Aircraft but love British and Russian Armour , i want to expand my skills in armour modelling which is why i'm here, i have been modelling since i was around eight years old and have never really stopped for long periods and am now 63

I have chosen to build the Roden 1/35 British Armoured car ( pattern1920) in a Desert scheme i think, if anyone has any tips on building this kit i would appreciate any advice !

See you on the forums

Cheers
Norman

Hello Norman!

Not nearly enough old British truck builders around here. I'll look forward to seeing your work.
Sorry I can't help with the Roden. I've never seen the kit.

Hello Norm!

Great to see you here, so welcome :D Plastic Armour is where i call home when it comes to internet modeling sites, such a good bunch of people here. Hopefully they can help out with your armoured car. I don't think i have seen one being built so will be watching with interest. Maybe Dez, Adrian(x2) and Gary will get on too, and Scott might like it here also :)

And to the good chaps on this forum, may i introduce Norm. He runs the modeling group i have recently joined up with, and kindly lets us use his garage to meet in. He's a top bloke, a good modeler and an absolutely fantastic photographer with some really outstanding photos that i have seen. I am ever so grateful to have run into Norm. Him, and his band of modelers have been an enormous boost to my modeling mojo :ugeek:

Welcome along Norman. We won't hold it against you that you know Woody :P

Good luck with the Roden kit - you certainly aren't making life easy starting your armour career with that  I bought it on sale a while back from my LHS but ended up using it for the moulded on rivets for other projects. Hopefully you'll be more adventurous than I and make something out of it

Thanks Everyone you are all very kind ,

Not much to report

Been working on my 1950's model of a Lindberg Walt Disney/VonBraun 1952 ( which is as old as me !) Moon rocket today i am doing lots of mods and additions after watching re runs of the old Disney shows he did with Willy Ley and Von Braun which most will not be remotely interested i guess , so as a result have done very little to the Roden Armoured Car , except research, but i will post some pics in next few days, after searching the Net it seems i will be one of few who have made this kit and posted results online, which does worry me a little......but not a lot !!! i always charge in ...so see you soon with pics then

Cheers
Norman
