White Ensign Models

Post by Vlad Seabrook-Smith »

I caught a post from WEM on Facebook earlier announcing that as of the 28th November they would be ceasing trade.

Also on the homepage.

A shocking announcement and one I certainly didn't see coming as they have been expanding their product range significantly in recent years. Not to mention the commission of new kits due for release imminently.

A real shame.

Wow

That is a mild Shocker. Can only agree about their expansion Vlad. I nearly posted the other day to say that They are carrying DNEPromodel porducts.

They have been a real force in the maritime modelling community.

What has caused that?

I was very struck by this poignant phrase from White Ensign Models on FB:

"The short answer to why is too much money going out, not enough coming in".

Niche markets and an extended depression   . I along with many of us often been guilty of using the phrase "The Golden Age of modelling". Maybe we need to rethink that assertion :?

There was a rumour on another site that LSA models are closing. With Netmerchants having gone the number of UK online shops I have to search now for obscure items has dwindled to a mere handfull.
