Italeri's M4A1 76mm #225 ???

Post by Mark Aldrich »

What is everyone's take on this Older than dirt Hull? It is dimensionally sound? I am thinking of using this with a Dragon Operation Cobra kit (scrap bin [missing hull]) and was just curious. Other than having Super smooth finish, it doesn't appear that bad to me.

I haven't done any academic research on this thing myself, but from what I've heard it's a fairly perfect copy made from a restored M4A1 back in the day. I've never heard of any dimensional issues. The periscope mounts are all moulded shut, the cupola is an integral part of the turret shell and the gun barrel has a step that shouldn't be there, but otherwise it's still a very fine kit.

At 776mm, I'm not sure that the gun calibre would be that accurate?

:P

Thanks guys! Was mostly concerned with the hull. I have stashes of older Italeri M4A1s. I am prepping to build a IDF M1 Sherman and I have a Dragon Operation Cobra that is only missing the hull. Other than having the grouser boxes molded on, The Italeri hull did not look that bad.
