The Rommel Box

Post by Justin Wooding »

Hi chaps,

I learnt something from the books Panzers In The Sand. The stowage bin on the rear of Panzer turrets is called a Rommel Box apparently? I have always wondered what went in there, was it tank equipment or crew gear?

Well this photo in Volume two shows what one crew had in there. This crew had it good by the look of it

Yup, it's name in german is "Rommelkiste". I think that is the only existing pic of a opened and fullfilled Rommelkiste. Thanks Woody!
