I'm planning my next build already. Yep, another Sherman, but this time, the little know M4A6.

A minimal amount were produced (75 -100) but never used in combat and non are known to have survived. They were essentially an M4A4 (Sherman V) with an M4 (Sherman 1) cast front nose. Like the V, the lengthened hull was needed for an even larger engine. My plan is to use a Tasca 1c Composite hull and cut off the front end and graft it onto a Tasca V hull. I have probably just enough info to create a reasonably accurate model but casting the net to see if I can find anything else - especially image wise.

You're certainly ambitious :D

I have no definite proof for anything, but since both M4A4 and M4A6 were made by Chrysler it seems reasonable that both would share a lot of features and especially dimensions.

Concerning the hull, it might be easier to add a piece to the rear of the composite hull rather than chopping up the front?

Thanks Philipp.

By adding the composite cast front, it'll be easier to hind the styrene join behind a weld seam. Otherwise you'll need to make the join invisible further back. I've just ordered a couple of sprues from Asuka (Tasca) with 1c composite and V hulls so I won't waste an entire kit if it goes wrong.

Hi Gary,

I think you have everything I have on this beast. It did use the M4A4 hull with the Cast nose, power train was not the Chrysler bank, but a dual Cat diesel I think. I'll take a look tonight and see if I have anything else.
