T-34/57 - HELP!?!

Post by Philipp Gross »

A desperate plea for help to our local T-34 experts :?

So, I bought this kit here yesterday:

I'm still a complete idiot when it comes to these things, but in the meantime I figured out the differences between a "soft edge" and a "hard edge" turret and that the vehicle I originally wanted to build has, of course, the wrong turret type. However I came across the 2nd series (??) T-34/57 with the hexagonal turret:

Now here's my question before I go and order a Zis-4 barrel: Would the kit above be suitable to depict such a tank? :?: :?: :?:

To my untrained eye they look mostly the same....?

Thanks in advance for each and every advice :)

Thanks for digging it up again ;)

So far I was able to figure out that the T-34 on the pictures all have "sharp edge" turrets produced late 1942-early 43 while the Dragon kit is both "soft edge" and from early 1942. I'll use a different T-34 kit for the 57mm gun - for the Dragon kit I have a better idea

Yep, that's Russians on the turret. The tank itself might have been one of the heavily modified T-34s used by Das Reich, with Schürzen and turret bin and all that stuff. I don't do SS, so that's a chance to build one anyway
