Missoula. Montana

Post by Mark Aldrich »

Mrs. TreadHead and I are travelling there this Sunday-Tuesday. We plan a stop at Fairchild, AFB as she is a Jet nut ( I know....I keep trying to get her to love tanks). They have about seven planes as memorials. One I do not have any shots of is the A-26 counter invader (I think) google shows it as having the wingtip tanks. Then in Fort Harrison, google shows a M7 Priest and three Desert Storm vhicles (I think). Should be some nice new walk arounds to add to the collection.

When you get there, go climb the, "M". Towering above the university is a steep grade with a giant concrete "M" near the top. The trail is a steep switch-back of dirt and stone, a tough, tough climb. When you get to the top the view is worth the effort. If you decide to give it a go, bring good shoes and a camera.

Got some great shots! Found a round wheel I had never seen on a Sherman. REALLY deep dish and studs on the outer rim. Will post tomorrow or Wednesday.
