OK modeling nerds,
I know that in our little group there has got to be more than few fans of the Canadian rock trio, Rush.
In the song, Red Barchetta, is the driver alone in the car or does his uncle accompany him on the joyride? I know what I've always believed, but what do other fans think?
Don't worry, the question does have relevance in the modeling world.
Also, the "gleaming alloy" aircars, are they driven by police or some other authority figure, or are they driven by random citizens hellbent on destruction, much like a soccer mom in her 12,000 pound SUV with a mobile phone jammed in her ear?
Was the uncle in the car, or was the driver alone?

The lyrics do state "I commit my weekly crime" which would indicate the uncle is not in the car to me? They also continue to contain 'I' rather than 'we'
As for the scond part.... who knows?
I can, though, imagine where this is heading

I always felt the same. But the earlier lyric, "We fire up the willing engine" indicates a group effort. If I had kept as new an old machine for 50-odd years, I would damn well want to ride in it every Sunday.
I think I need the uncle in the passenger seat to help tell the story. It works better to deliver the punchline. I also think the aircars need to be clearly identifiable as police.

Perhaps the uncle was a passenger 'in spirit' rather than actually being there? That way you could paint him white to indicate a 'spritual prescence'?

I was aware of this story. The author, Richard Foster, which inspired the song posted a photoblog of the motorcycle journey. I don't know where it is, but it's on a server someplace.
