Merry Christmas and a Happier 2022?

Post by Steve Hutchinson »

Merry Christmas to one and all

Its been another tough year!

New Covid cases in the UK are at 106,000+ and climbing

We are in a "self" isolation for the 4th/5th time?

Its cold, wet, miserable and the big day is 2 days away and it will be just the 6 of us again, Anna, me and the 4 cats!

I retired this year and just stayed at home instead of working from home, no change there but started "working" much harder on all those DIY jobs!

Its been another awful year, probably as bad as 2020, and we still don't seem to be over the worst/next Covid variant!

I have almost finished the 2nd GB in one year, that's a first, so there is a little silver lining in the grey clouds.

Here's hoping for a better 2022, even if its only going out, a little without being totally paranoid about catching Covid.

Take care where ever you all are in the world and be safe out there

Seasons greetings and best regards to one and all

Steve & Anna

Merry Christmas to each and all of you!

Yes, it turns out the pandemic is far from over, despite our previous government declaring otherwise a few days before the federal election.... As inconvenient as the situation might be, at least for me with vaccines widely available this plague has lost its initial terror. And it finally seems with the new version around this will at last become "just another flu", as all the "experts" on the internet have claimed from the beginning. If we're lucky, things might finally turn to normal next year....one can hope...

From a personal perspective, 2021 was a fairly good year for me. In April I got back to work after a far too long period in the clutches of a dystopian "welfare" system and so far it was a mostly pleasant experience with nice colleagues, a slightly better pay than before and, thankfully, interesting historical stuff to look at. Also it's unlimited, which is another first for me.

In terms of modelling, I didn't finish much, so far, but I think at least the Hetzer Starr will follow suit in the next few days. Otherwise there was the French AMX Sherman and the return of a long dormant shelf queen:

Finishing more shelf queens will be my top priority next year. There's certainly enough to choose from...

Now let's see what else 2022 will bring. Take care, all of you! :)

Hope you all had a Merry Christmas.
Hopefully it shouldn't be too hard for 2022 to be better than 2021.

Merry Xmas all. I hope Santa was kind. I got some new “bits” (Ammo of Mig paint racks) for my hobby room which is a WIP thanks to Covid making building materials harder (and more expensive) to source.

I hope 2022 brings some improvement to the global situation. Spanish flu took 5yrs to die out, but we at least have a vaccine…so maybe the end is in sight??

Sadly a quiet inter Bank Holiday period, Henry our Part Bengal didn't survive his chemo treatment and passed away on the 29th.

Its been very quiet since then.

Things will feel better once his ashes are returned to us.

Condolences Steve, the animals we live with are important members of the family, not just pets.
