Hey Gary, what are you using for the lights in the top of your workbench?

My contract work up north has come to and end and will now be working back in Auckland again so no more weekly 320km round trips with short weekends. Thios means I can hopefuilly start getting back into modelling a bit more.

Over xmas, I built a shed in the back garden (with a small add on for SWMBO's gardening stuff). Came as a kit set and pretty easy to assemble - ignore the untidy lawn as we're undergoing some landscaping changes at the moment...

Image

I then spent some time lining the inside with polystyrene insulation and GIB board. Work benches were added along with lots of lighting and a kitchen rangehood ventilator for the spray area. Used the panoramic setting on the camera so looks a bit odd, but you get the idea....

And yes, that is what you think it is on the workbench. A shelf queen I started back in the MA days. Will put some pics up of progress at some stage.

Looks like a nice space Gary, but where do you keep all your modelling supplies? I don't do anywhere near the amount of scratch building and PE, and I have so many more supplies on my bench.

My 'stash' is kept up in the attic along with other stuff. I tend to get out just what I need for the build - hence why it looks so sparce :D

If I had a larger space, I'd have a bigger mess to create

Now that I've finally cleaned up my workbench for once I feel confident to resurrect this ancient tread for a long-needed update

Image

You may recognize some familiar elements from last time. After triggering my smoke detector two times I've since added a spraying booth, I think my lungs are also happy with that  The black IKEA drawer units contain various raw materials, paints, modelling supplies as well as two drawers reserved for "short term" storage of unfinished projects

Image

Since my move back in 2017 I finally have space for a permanent photo setup. Naturally it quickly got cluttered with the usual things  The grey drawers mostly contain spare kit parts.....

And finally, right in the middle, the shelf of infinite shame and chaos (but mostly shame), with all the unfinished stuff I keep telling myself I really need to finish this year

Image

How about all of you? What is your current setup? ;)

What kind of light bulbs do you use on your photo bench? What covering the lights themselves, some sort of fabric or paper?
