All you could possibly want to know about WW2 tanks...

Post by Philipp Gross »

...can be found here: http://tankarchives.blogspot.com/

It's a true treasure chest of WW2 era documents, mostly from Soviet archives. There's a great amount of reports on Allied and German vehicles as well. Oh, and it's all translated into English, too. Which makes it quite useful.

A few gems:
T-34 and KV-1 Test at Aberdeen
SU-76i Production Problems
Testing the Hellcat
Testing the Pershing
Discovery of the Maus
Proposed Sherman-based SU-85 (!!!!!)
ARL-44
December 28th: Brigade scouts stole an accordion from drunken enemy officers in a restaurant in Narva

Anyway, just hit the index links for Soviet, Allied and Axis stuff and be overwhelmed by the enormous load of information :D

Quite impressive. Fun fact: The KV tank's turret machine gunner (mannning the rear-facing turret MG) was designated the assistant driver, to relieve the driver once he got tired...
