Dragon and Simple things!!!!

Post by Mark Aldrich »

AARRGGHH! So I am nearing completion on the Disney Sherman. It needs two tow cables running the length of the hull. All of Dragons eyelets have that half dug out end in them. Normally this would not be an issue but the way the fronts are mounted I need the eyelet to be solid. The only US distributor for Karaya or Eureka is Sprue Brothers. I have no idea what these look like. I pulled out my Tasca kits and all their's appear to be too short though they are solid at the end. I pulled some rod out and the closest I have in size is Evergreen .047 rod. Will attempt to make some this evening.

On my group build Sherman I managed to carve out the insides of the tow eyelets enough for the cable to sit center inside the shaft, using a drill of appropriate size. Afterwards it should be easy to fill the remaining gap with putty?

Alternative method is to fill the cut out with a piece of stretched sprue using plenty of cement to ensure a solid join between the parts. When the cement has fully cured, sand to shape and then drill out a hole to accept the cable :D
