Cheap Tweezers

Post by Justin Wooding »

Hi chaps,

Just a little something i have purchased. A set of tweezers and a file set. The tweezers are nice and well made. They are straight, needle sharp and the tips align perfectly, not bad for a cheap set.

You reccomended this place to me Gary for solder paste and flux.

Hi Edmund!

The difference from a normal needle file is the cutting surface. My old traditional needle files have the rasp style and can leave some nasty grooves, especially in plastic. These new ones are more like an abrasive. a heavy duty sanding stick really. Apparently, they will last longer than traditional needle files. That will only be proved by time. And since i have had my old set for about 15 years, well, i will get back to you on that one :P

I figured they were like a diamond coated file , then they would be good for cleaning up photo etch and other metals . Are they not too fine for plastic ?

Hi Edmund, i have been using them for cleaning up plastic parts and tidying up the sprue attachment points and they are nice to work with. They clog up less and are easier to clean than my traditional files.

I got this a long time ago works great on brass and copper , does nor work real good with plastic , its too fine . I thought the files were the same . You could use an eraser to clean the files after use .
