Takom Chieftain Mk.11
They're all building them you know
Couldn't resist starting this - though the Otter is likely to get finished first.
The Centurion and Chieftain are still for me the most tank-shaped looking tanks. I can recall seeing Chieftains at Army shows at the Rec in Swansea as a child. It was common to see them on transporters heading down the M4 to the Firing ranges at Manorbier in West Wales. I wasn't particularly into military things but it was always an impressive looking beast. So thank you Takom. it would have been rude not to
Instructions come in the form of a landscape A4 sized quality paper booklet..
There is a separate smaller A5 paint scheme guide, depicting 5 schemes - 3 BATUS Sand and Green machines, one depicted in Black and green from Germany and one example in all green.
Call-out paint numbers are from Mig Ammo.
The instructions are again CAD-image style
My reference has been this excellent volume, thoroughly recommended
And this is the machine I plan to do.
isn't that a great pic in terms or Camouflage? it depicts a Land Warfare unit "Opfor" vehicle on Salisbury plain, out of Warminster - just on my doorstep and altogether more homely than a Canadian based vehicle. It lacks Schurzen as apparently they were left off to greater mimic an "enemy" tank.
The little squares on the turret box are going to be bumma to replicate If anyone has yellow and red squares in their spares box - now's the time to bring joy to an aging Welshman
I'll need some TAC decals from Accurate Armour to represent "11".
My only other addition is some 5 Gallon oil drums that are strapped on the hind quarter and apparently essential to the continued running of these temperamental vehicles
The etch and supplied decals seem very fine
Here's the hull
More soon

And the pace is quickening
I shall find somewhere comfy and watch with interest. With regards the yellow squares, do you have any WW2 allied decals that would suffice? failing that mask and spray.

Will be watching carefully! I plan on getting one of the kits at somepoint... just need to ditch my old motorised Tamiya one first!

Echo, echo!I'm really not into Cold War British armour and yet I still want one of these...
It looks just awesome!
To me the most "tankish tank" is the Leopard1A5, but probably for a similar reason: it's visible in a couple of pictures of my old man's military service...I don't know where those went in all the years since his death now.. I should bother my mom...
Best regards
