1/35 Roden 1920 Pattern RR Armoured Car
Hi All
O.K i have began construction of my Roden 1920 Pattern Rolls Royce armoured car , and have the engine and most of the Chassis together, the kit is highly detailed with many tiny ( to me) parts that are connected to the sprues with large flow gates making their removal hazardous ! i used a brand new blade and small blocks of wood to rest the sprue on to cut and remove, EVERY part has a seam line that needs removal, tedious but has to be done, since these pics were taken i have undercoated the assembly to reveal any further filling etc before proceeding, very ,very fiddly !
I have acquired the Black Dog resin set for it which comprises cargo and weapons so am looking forward to adding that and painting her in WW2 Desert Camo
More soon if anyone's interested
Underside
Topside
A bit difficult to get the idea but with paint on she will be easier to see
Cheers
Norm

Engine detail looks pretty good. Too bad about all the fitment problems. Roden is just one of those you know will need a lot of extra work. But they also produce some vehicle types not available elsewhere.
Good clean up and patching so far.

Hi Norm,
Apart from the fit issues, it looks a reasonably detailed kit. Nothing there that old school modeling skills and patience can't fix. Will check it out tomorow
The resin accessories should help to make it look great.

You'll find those just about the time you finish kits 4 or 5. Asking questions on sites like this will lead you there in fewer kits.

Nice start Norman. You've certainly progressed further with this kit than I ever did
How are the decals in your kit? I recall mine were old and almost disintegrated when they went into water

Hi Gary
Decals 'look' o.k. and appear newish, but doubt they will be easy going on what i have read, i love this subject and intend to put her in a diorama with a Vickers light tank, a Chev truck and a knocked out german tank/vehicle, a camel or two and some figures, pretty ambitious but thats that ,
I have constructed more this morning and added some extra Mr surfacer filler in area's it was needed, i hate seams on any subject i make, i reckon i will have major sub assemblies done by Monday, i host our local 'Modellers Guild' here today in my garage so that will slow me down a bit, i hope to see Woody there ! i also have about eight other projects on the go, its how i model, 1/48 aircraft a couple of ships, figures etc,
More pics tomorrow
Cheers

Really interested to see how this turns out Norman - I've thought of getting this.
I anticipate the Black Dog set setting it of very nicely

Hi chaps,
I have just come from Norms place. He is right, it's not a great kit and the sprue attachment points are quite chunky!
Some nice details on the plastic though and the Blackdog resin looks good.
Norm is doing good with it so far. The photos he has here don't do justice to the clean up and gap filling he has done.
