Sd.Kfz. 253 - Dragon 9128

Post by Dario Risso »

I desired this kit since the 80'2 when I see a conversion built on a Tamiya 250; for some reason I never bouy the Dragon 6140 kit...fortunately: Dragon - Cyber Hobby release a new box with some figures and Magic Tacks in 2011
There are decals for 3 vehicles, and of course I choose this one:

I could not find online reviews for this new kit, but there is one for the old kit:

I like this model by Angus Creighton

http://www.anguscreighton.com/projects/sdkfz253.html

Vinnie built the model too, but...you know...broken link

A couple of web pages with field pics:

And a couple with the only remain of a 253, at the "Diego de Henriquez" museum, in Trieste:

Dragon instruction booklet has some mistakes (of course), so I take a look to other booklets (6117 and 6125 kits)

This is what I did untill now:

Inside parts dry fit, aading of some floor plates (Lion Roar)

Some putty is required:

The Magic Tracks are workable, if properly build:

The roof doesn't fit well:

And that's all for today

Hi Dario,

Those Dragon halftracks are a lot of fun. I like the colour scheme you picked, it will look great. ;)
Thanks for all the references you add to you posts too. :D

Thanks, Vincent!
I've almost finished the interior painting and weathering:

Image
The only extra part is a resin copy of a bedroll. The fuel filler cap is from the kit (instructions doesn't mentions this part). The dirt is a mix of pigments

Image
I added some home printed decals to the front part of the driving cabin

Image
Left side: I added a couple of gas mask tins, a couple of helmets and 3 signal flags

Image
Right side: the 3rd radio transformer was removed, it will not be visible at the end (actually...too little will be visible at the end :) )

Image
The Radios: FuG dontknowwhat and FuG cantrememberwhich

Image
Front radio and instrument panel; of course, it have the ignition key...other way I would not be able of turn the engine on!

Any suggestion is welcomed
Darío

Nice choice of vehicle Dario and great start - the fit on that roof looks a little dispaointing

As John says - particularly nice work on the interior :D

If you did not know Dario I love half tracks. Great work on that interior.
