Re: Armour Repair Plant 206, abandoned T-54 model 1949
Thanks for the comments....much appreciated. I was able to get some time in over the New Years Holiday and was able to wrap this up. This was a long battle for me, much like the destroyed T-34 I did. I have learned it is much easier to build a complete tank, opposed to destroying one. I do have the itch to do another project like this as I have photos of an abandoned BMP-1 with the engine compartment bare at the same abandoned plant....just need to find more pictures of the BMP-1 engine compartment. I have posed the photos of the real tank and a similar angle to my kit. I'm pretty happy with the results. I just could not bring myself to add snow to the base or tank, other than that I think it looks pretty close.

Greg-
It's done and it looks amazing! You nailed the groundwork to wrap it all up!
I just noticed something very odd about the inspiration pic. The track tension! The tracks literally must have been adjusted right before the engine was pulled and the tank was abandoned.
One of those details that makes you scratch your head and wonder. I think you were smart to model the tracks sagging- It suits the rest of the scene so much better!
Brilliant work Greg!

I noticed that too and thought that someone would see the model and call me out for it...then I'd have to produce the photo of the real thing....just wanted to avoid it.... Thanks, could not have done it without Celticwerks.

Great build Greg. You really nailed it. If you posted a black and white picture of your model it would be hard to tell which is the original one.
Like Steve I was quite puzzled by the tracks tension on the abandoned tank. It's really odd.

Great work, Greg.
An idea about the track tension and it comes from a Tamiya kit. THe Tam kit of the M48 sits too high because they measured the height of the subject tank when there was no engine in it. Could that be the same here?
