Re: Churchill Snake
Thanks Bryan
Wanted to try something different to the usual rusted up exhaust. Started with Tamiya flat aluminium mixed with some Sky Grey for the base colour. I then misted over some heavily diluted Tamiya Clear Blue to simulate heat exposure before adding some light rust washes. The covers are from the Voyager set with Meng styrene nuts/bolts....

Love the exhaust Gary!
Do you have a photo prior to the shield covering it up?

Re: Churchill Snake
Sorry Dave - and all stuck down now
After a coat of clear, started on pin washes and oils to add some tonal variation. Always looks very messy at this stage
Long way to go but slowly taking shape.

Re: Churchill Snake
I had a look at the Ammo colours today and something struck me, I think the two greens are mislabelled. The colour in the No. 3 Khaki Green is way too brown and the SCC 15 is way too green but is much more like the green mix I've used as No. 3.

Re: Churchill Snake
Hi Chris
I haven't really looked closely at the other colours yet. Need to break them out to get an idea of what they look like when sprayed.
In the meantime, more oils applied....
Put to one side now for the oils to dry....

Re: Churchill Snake
Exquisite work Gary - Really like the Tamiya mix - result. Exhaust is spot on and the oils are fantastic
One of these days I predict - you'll be doing this for a modelling magazine

Re: Churchill Snake
Thanks gents
Next up, heavily diluted Tamiya XF57 Buff gives an 'in use' look with exhaust stains added to the rear using heavily diluted Tamiya XF1 Black. Purely an educated guess, but added some wires to the rear which would probably be how the 'torpedoes' would be electrically fired from within the vehicle....
