Re: Churchill Snake
Woohoo - it's finally back
Not sure why the inner pipes are shorter Steve.
Here's where things currently stand. Just need to give it a good look over to ensure I haven't missed anything, add the tow hook to the rear and then paint....

Re: Churchill Snake
Thanks gents
However, that was the easy part. Paint is a different story....
I would seem that probably 2 of the most contested colours as far as WW2 is concerned are Dunkelgelb and British SCC 15 Olive Drab. I had hoped that life would be made easier by Mig's recent British ETO Colours release which contained, what is allegedly British SCC.
I initially gave the model a quick spray with Vallejo OD Primer - concentrating on the photoetched parts before turning to the Mig colour. Disappointed is not a strong enough word TBH. More like Bronze Green than OD
So, back to the old school method of mixing your own. After a little searching on the net, I found a 'recipe' by the famed Mike Starmer using Tamiya colours....
The Mig colour isn't quite consigned for the bin - but close
Anyhow, here's an indication of the difference in colours. The lights do make the hull seem a little lighter than in natural light, but am much happier with the new shade I've used on the turret....

Re: Churchill Snake
The blue background is playing havoc with the camera so swapped for white which allows for better colour definition. Here's where things sit after a little colour modulation...
Next step is some clear followed by decals.

Re: Churchill Snake
Looks stunning Gary!
I suspected as much in regards to the blue background screwing up the colour, I've had to deal with pink panzer grey....back then much to Vinnie's amusement .
Best regards

Re: Churchill Snake
Cheers chaps
Decals on and some smaller details painted (BESAs, extinguishers etc)...
Turret is just sat loosely on the hull.
