Meng BMPT Terminator

Post by Gary Boxall »

Got this yesterday afternoon and couldn't wait to get stuck in. Going to build this OOTB (apart from some 30mm barrels) and while I'm not doing a full blog, I will post up some WIP pics as I go along.

The suspension is very nicely done. It can be made to fully articulate though Meng do provide a jig to set the suspension straight if glued solid which is what I did. The tracks (4 parts per link) are a mix of styrene with vinyl end connectors. An odd mix which works extremely well - a track making jig is also provided to make the job easier. Here's where it currently stands....

I must admit I was very tempted when this was released. Will be watching with interest.

Let's just glad that there's still a human crew inside. Once they change that and add a full chrome coat I'd start to worry

That being said, well done so far Gary. But no brass? Seriously? :P

This really is a fantastic kit - I'm seriously impressed with the overall quality of parts and fit. There are some very minor mould lines here and there which will need to be dealt with but other than that, I'm enjoying this more than any other kit I've built in a long time

Chris - this is one you must get. There'll be no regrets!

Olivier - yep, aside from the barrels I mentioned.

Philipp - other than what's included in the kit - no :D

Here's where I'm up to after a couple more hours build time. Upper hull is dry fitted at this stage....

Turret complete. Certainly wouldn't look out of place on one of John E's Sci-Fi builds

Main armament consists of two 30mm Shipunov 2A42 automatic cannons....

I have some turned brass barrels on order so the kit ones are dry fitted at this stage. The antenna is a one piece part supplied in the kit. Careful sprue removals is the order of the day but it is do-able :D
