Trumpeter SU-100U

Post by Bryan Krueger »

Here is my build of the Trumpeter SU-100U. It's a pretty basic kit and not very accurate even though a sample is available for review. I think they used the old Atelier Infinite resin kit as their reference.

I blather on at length here if you are interested SU-100Y In Progress

The executive summary is I replaced the solid plastic screens, redid all welds, corrected as much as I was willing to match the museum piece, then add a few details to the roof plate for crew comfort.

You put a lot of work into this kit Bryan. Well done. I like your dedication to modeling these obscure subjects. :)

What a strange looking beast of a tank...as if someone took a gun casemate from a destroyer and bolted it onto a KV chassis

Well done Bryan, it's almost a shame to paint it and hide all the extra effort that you put into it...

It was a navel gun and powered by a boat engine.

Which begs the question, where are the exhausts? None are visible on the museum piece. Someone said they were under the rear fenders.
