Thank you Olivier.
2 days spent modifying the loaders hatch....about 40% accurate but 100% better than the moulded item.
First job was to reduce the width of the hatch mount arms by 50%. That took a lot of patience
......Hatch rubber stops added and dry fitted. A working hatch that opens to around the correct angle!

Nice work, it’s the small details that make a model unique.

Re: Tamiya T-62
Progress has been slow due to my dithering and seeking photos, trying to decide what details should be on this version and what needs to be modified. I'm still not really sure in honesty!
Some detail added to the front idler assembly. Tamiya just added a plain lug so I removed those, drilled for some alloy tube and added a bit of minor detail, not totally accurate but a fair interpretation. I'm using the Miniart tracks and wheels as I damaged the kit tracks and being that the kit is actually between 1/32 and 1/35 scale the sprockets and tracks are not interchangeable, the detail and accuracy is beautiful and the difference in dimensions is only noticeable to the most anal rivet counter.
Some work on the fuel cells. Handles and caps have been removed and replaced. The moulded fender brackets have been removed and replaced with alloy sheet. I've made a start on the fuel lines. I noticed on the reference photos that the return from the front cell is a smaller diameter pipe so replicated this, pipe connectors are from cable insulation and pipe clips from flattened copper wire. I started by slipping the insulation onto the wire then bent it to shape initially but decided to try cutting the wire to the correct length between the joiners and fitted them as you would the real thing. I actually preferred doing it that way.

A bit more on the hull, I should've used finer wire on the release bar for the engine covers but it's what I had (I'm tempted to do the others).
I was going to leave the turret cheeks as they were but once on I could really notice that they were too thin so built them up with 2mm plasticard, I left the finish rough and added a bit of texture to imitate the full size:

Had a go at the headlight cages. I made them up as self jigging to make soldering easier but it still took way too long. They came out well enough after a clean up but I'm going to do them again without using the holes for the kit part as the cage should have feet welded to the glacis plate.

Re: Tamiya T-62
So...... I altered the light cage to something near full size, a painfully frustrating, pig of a job with no error for height unlike using the mounting holes, In future I shall make up a jig to do this modification.
Not 100% happy as it's out of square and not plumb but once the lights are permanently fixed it's passable.
The damage on the lights is to match the wonky cage, intentional of course, nothing to do with me being heavy handed with the solder iron.....no definitely not....honest.
