Firstly, I can take no credit for the research, leg work and execution to produce the modifications, I merely followed the build from another forum and added a few of my own so all credit goes to the original builder for their hard work.
I'm a plastic kit building "noobie" with no experience except for some aircraft kits that i ruined during my childhood, I now have a resurrected interest in military armour that I wish to exploit further by building.
I originally bought the kit as a cheap, throwaway practice mule but it all got out of hand when I stumbled across the build whist surfing the web!
The monster is conceived.......
Edit: Trying to add photos but message status just shows an orange triangle with exclamation.

I'm not sure what happened...can you send me a screenshot to gross-philipp@web.de?
Alternatively you could try an image hoster like Imgur, it's free and relatively comfortable.

Final drive casting remodelled as best can be and textured, vision slots, headlamps, light cages, front mud guards and detail added....

.......coax MG, periscopes and flail chain cage added then primed.....
....pre-shaded and base colour added.......
...the reshaped 3 piece diff cover can be seen more clearly here, the one that Airfix moulded is a mixture of the single cast and 3 piece so totally wrong.....

Re: My Airfix Crab epic
Thanks Philipp.
The progress is an illusion, I've just this past week finished it but it's actually taken months!
I've used it as a learning exercise so many mistakes were made and corrected, it's still full of flaws such as parts being out of scale and proportion, inaccuracies in the details, faults in the paint finish and weathering but it's been a massively steep learning curve and possibly one of the best kits I could've started with for the experience.
....satin coat and decals added..... ....work started on detailing the flail arms.....

Re: My Airfix Crab epic
Weathering effects started. This was one of my first mistakes by starting painting and weathering on an incomplete model, I should've added the flail frame before I started this.
I had also added the track skids to the top of the suspension trunnions which are absent from the kit, I did this using strips from a drinks can which I annealed and etch coated.....
Edit: You can also see the 'pistol port' that I scratched for the side of the turret and the extra detail I added to the final drive hub. Rear Grousers and rear lights were also scratch built.

Re: My Airfix Crab epic
Pin wash and some more weathering with oils.......
Edit: This was how I was going to leave it but the tracks are so poor that I decided that they need to be hidden in some way so the plan had to change.
