I might try that on the blade as well, I’ve got a shelf full of Alclad paints from my aircraft modeling days.Bryan Krueger wrote: ↑29 Jun 2020, 21:34 Alclad airbrushed over gloss black yields some very good results. I recently sprayed Polished Aluminum over Tamiya gloss black and it looked amazing. They make a Chrome.
I've read the Molotov can take days to try properly.

Re: Meng DR9 "Doobie"
Steady building gets me here;
Still a lot of plastic to glue together, but the general structure is there now.
Have been running a few experiments for the blade which needs to be polished from moving earth but worn and tarnished at the edges. AK True Metal is looking like the winner, it's wax based, can be airbrushed, brush painted or just rubbed on with a quetip or finger. Supposedly it can be sealed with Klear and then weathering applied over the top. Anyone have any experience with it?

Re: Meng DR9 "Doobie"
Build complete, now on with the priming.
Tracks were a real fiddle to assemble, but once together they are very robust and workable. The pale tan track link over the tip of the idler is a nice touch, it is different from the other links and is the connector for the ends of the track, present on the real thing. Looks like you can't just replace a link, you replace the entire length.

Nice clean build Adam, very impressive. There is a lot of detail packed into that kit. I'm sure it will be a joy to paint and weather.

Very nice build.
Painting this kind of vehicles is a true nightmare for me as you just can't show them clean. Enjoy this upcoming phase.

Re: Meng DR9 "Doobie"
With the challenge of masking 15 windows I thought I would devote some brain power to it.
There is a spare window insert on Sprue A. I noted all the windows were the same size, so tried to cut masks using the spare window insert as a guide. This was a disaster as it is hard to keep the blade up against the template cutting from the inside...so, I scribed the shape of the inside of the window frame onto Styrene sheet and cut this out. Some minor fine tuning got it to fit tightly into the frame. I was then able to use it to cut a series of masks. Problem solved
Some minor fit issues tidied up with small pieces of tape,
..now on to the primer!!
