KV-2 with 107mm ZiS-6
Another week and time to start another project. This one is going to be longer term so I may actually finish some things before parts get glued.
The KV-2 was used as a test bed in March 1941 for a modified 107mm divisional gun. Tests were passed in June 1941 but the project was cancelled and the guns scrapped because the intended heavy tanks KV-4, KV-5 etc. never materialized.
There are only a handful of images of this test set up:

Re: KV-2 with 107mm ZiS-6
I have designed the parts in 3D CAD. The shapes are pretty straight forward and it didn't take me too long to get the shapes defined. I learned my lesson from last time and am waiting on the Aber barrel before I finalize the CAD.
I just love the length of this gun on the KV2 turret.
I'm not sure what to do about the welded alignment pins. The real detail is very subtle and will be a challenge to recreate by CAD or with epoxy putty.
Exploded view. Will use 1.6mm MasterClub resin bolts.
A cross section. I'm not concerned about gun elevation nor interior details so I kept the design pretty basic.
I may need to design a debris shield to cover the top. That will come later.

Yep, that huge gun looks amazing on the KV-2 Thanks for posting the photos, I've only seen the last one so far.

They did release a kit 1/72 kit but the mantle is not deep enough to match the photos and it looks like they replicated the KV-220 gun shield.
The 107 was suppose to the be the gun mounted on the KV-220 before that project was cancelled.

I added a couple of "production" features not seen on the prototype. The debris shield and the welded bars for the shot trap.

Looks good! KV-2 is one of my favourite tanks so will definitely follow this build

Received the Aber barrel last night. Modified the parts to fit the turned barrel and sent to a friend that has a Form2 printer. Fingers crossed.

Re: KV-2 with 107mm ZiS-6
The construction went pretty quick. I added a few armored applique plates to protect the turret ring. Most of these are from spares. I still need to scratch the one on the lower front. I'm awaiting the Eduard PE set and still need to order tracks.
