Quick pic...
Running gear looks nice, pity it will all be hidden by the side skirts...

Re: Takom PL-01 Concept
It actually did turn into a quick build....sorry about the image quality, used my cellphone for all the pics.
Everything is just press fit at the moment, I want to use the VMS product for applying an antislip coating to the upper parts of the hull and turret. Takom have moulded this in but it is very faint and likely to be lost under paint.
The track jig is awesome. Not only does it allow you to assemble the tracks with the right degree of sag, but it is also "press fit" with wee teeth so that the length parts of the track line up correctly and are held in place whilst the cement cures.
I'm only going to assemble the lower part of the run, firstly so that I can take them on and off for painting, but I'll also glue them to the idler and drive sprocket after painting as the upper run is hidden under the side skirts.

That's some very impressive engineering, both the kit and the real one
Looks like you're almost ready for paint?

Yup, I’ll get the tread grip effect on over the weekend then prime. The tread grip is a two part process from VMS, a brush applied adhesive that you allow to dry (minimum 1hr, but can be left way longer) and an airbrush applied solvent with the grit suspended in it that reactivates the glue. Very controlled, the grit will only stick where you put the glue.Philipp Gross wrote: ↑17 Sep 2019, 21:49 That's some very impressive engineering, both the kit and the real one

I remember Gary using Chinchilla dust to some reasonable effect for simulating anti-slip.

Re: Takom PL-01 Concept
Managed to get the camo job done over the weekend. Started with the lighter colours and masked with a combination of Ammo masking putty and silly putty (same stuff really).
I've kept the colours very light as I will darken with filters etc. I went with a combination camo scheme of one recommended in the instructions and one used on late model Leopard tanks. Just need to tidy up the overspray etc.
