ASU-85 mod1970 Trumpeter

Post by Olivier Carneau »

Hi all
here is my ASU-85 after less than a week of work. The kit got minor modifications: I replaced the stiff PE fasteners of the large fuel tank by some tin foil and I'll do the same for the mudflaps.

The rest is OOTB. Of course you need to trim some parts here and there but it builds quite easily. The tedious part is assembling the 93-94 links for each track.

I'll paint it in a faded Russian green like in Afghanistan. As I haven't seen a vehicle with the towing cables yet I think I won't use them.

Thank you Vincent. It was not that difficult with a part count of less than 450 which means 350 minus the track links. For Trumpeter it is a basic kit

Right Raoul. This is a true air droppable StuG.
I'll paint it as during the first stage of the Russian invasion of Afghanistan.
Stay tuned ;)

For some reason I really like the design of this vehicle but I never came around to build one myself. Excellent work Olivier! :D

Thanks for the comment.
I started the painting step. The base color is XF-67 NATO Green, the highlights are a mix of XF-67 and XF-15 Flesh. I guess I've a bit overdone this step. But this should be an acceptable base for the weathering.

Looks completely fine to me  !
But I understand your sentiment - my stuff always looks way to pronounced after initial shading, but after the oils at latest it's all ground down to subtleties  .

This will look awesome, I'm convinced!
