Re: Hobby Boss St Chamond
I've put the hull and chassis together so now it looks like a tank. I've even managed to finish off the camo and put a pin wash on the rivets. There are a LOT of rivets by the way
Thanks for looking.
Vincent
I am still working on the hatches and I will get the tracks done shortly then I can get on with the weathering. Thanks for looking.

The pin wash may have been tedious, but it has made all that detail really pop.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the positive comments.
Steve, there will be a base and now that you have brought it up I had better start looking for something suitable.

Re: Hobby Boss St Chamond
Ok, a bit more of an update. I've given the hull some tonal variation using oils and made a start on the hatches.
Cheers,
Vincent
Next up will be some streaking followed by dirt and mud. That should be fun! Cheers,
Vincent

Re: Hobby Boss St Chamond
Thanks Philipp and Adam.
I was looking at a Michael Rinaldi book yesterday and I was intrigued with the method he used on a set of tracks. Naturally I had to give it a go. Of course, mine didn't turn out anything like "Rinaldi quality" but I'm pleased to try out something different. This is what I did.
First step, I sprayed a mixture of Vallejo orange rust and Vallejo yellow over gray primer covered tracks. Next up I randomly covered this with a mixture of Nato Black and blue by Tamiya. Then I mixed up some Ammo pigments, Earth and Light Dust, lightly covering the face of the tracks. Over this I painted various Abteilung oil colours, such as Dark Mud, Light mud, Shadow brown, Buff and Burnt Umber. All done randomly, some as washes some used dry until I had something I liked. I did this twice but I think I might do another couple just to see what effect it has. Finally I gave the raised parts a rub with Steel pigment. As an afterthought I wondered how shiny the track would be given its been blown up so I added some surface rust. Anyway, that's what I've been up to. I had better get back to the bench.
Cheers,
Vincent

Tracks look great Vincent. They are an area of any armoured model I still struggle with so might try this. Out of interest, which Rinaldi book was it in?
