1:35 dragon 6543 Pz III J early DAK

Post by Steve Hutchinson »

Evening gent,

Though its a Dragon it was almost a straight forward a build as a Tamiya

A real shake and bake, but I do love making magic tracks!

I built this after the inquiry about the L42/L60, as I couldn't really confirm it as a L60, I stuck to the L42 barrel.

Built in little bites, and hour here, 30 minutes there and here it is.

I have put a 2nd coat of Dunkelgelb and the crackling is now OK,

I shall try a hairspray, chipping on this one as part of my Dunkelgelb project

Regards

You have been holding out on us Steve.

Looks really good from here.

I also enjoyed the one I built. Not to mention you have to love those Magic Tracks. My most favorite tracks for sure.

Do you know what caused the cracking on the paint Steve? It's an interesting effect.

Hi Vincent

According to Mr Rinaldi too much hairspray which is then activated by the moisture in the paint causing the crackling.

Still a process to master, I'm not there yet!

more to come soon, hopefully

Afternoon

A little more as this is front and center until I get my head around the 14-18 build

decals on and a little chipping A'la too much hairspray,

The first layer of pigments to get a base and texture on the tub and wheels

It is a on off, wash, pigment and chip process, I have to rustle up some baggage too, as the kit came with nothing

I have a Pz III stowage set somewhere in the attic, but no spare tracks or spare wheels!

Time to order a cheap donor from E-Bay, hopefully.

There are occasionally built kits, which will do for bits

I am hoping for a recently arrived and just getting weathered in look, not a completely battered and bruised ;)

Looks awesome Steve! :D

I've been going back and forth about the hairspray method being worth it... still undecided, worked great once (had to be some years ago...) and once horribly... so I'm still on the fence ;) .

Yours looks stunning at least!

Are you going to complete the Afrika palm eventually? ;) `

Best regards

Jury is still out on the hairspray chipping, but I will persevere on another build.

Pigments on the running gear
