Always good to see other types of plastic kit, and a really different one too

Love the figure, pre painted, what a relief 8-)

A flat bottom would give you the opportunity to built a seascape :?

Always fancied trying to make waves, they always look so impressive 8-)

Great start

THanks.

Making waves is going to be the challenge. I've never done it before and the only time I did water effects was for a PT boat sitting at a dock. I may do the same with this.

Love the pre-painted, really tiny PE figures

hi Steve

There are loads of YouTube videos showing many different ways to make waves

It really is so cool haw they turn out, though I guess some practice will be a good investment

And they do use bath sealant too, which will be much cheaper than the water effects sold specifically at the modelling market

Its on my retirement build list too.

I am sure you will enjoy having a go ;)

Regards

I'd be interested in some advice on that matter too...have a slightly smaller project planned which needs some waves as well...

I've been researching this, looking for the easiest way. I came across this

I think I'll give this a try.

I”ve been on weapons detail today.

Top row – twin 15 in main guns. I replaced the kit barrels with AM turned aluminium. PE ladders added
Next row, Dual 4 in turrets. Barrels replaced.
Third row, 8 barrel 2 pdr "Chicago PIano"
Last row, quad 2 pdr
The PE frets from the kit were paper thin and constantly got bent.

The last weapons will be the 20mm Oerlikons. They are really tiny, so I’m saving them for last.

Philipp,

Check out some of Jim Wechsler work. He uses a two-art resin called Environtex Light, with silicon sealant for the waves.

I managed to find a little time this past week and get a little more done. I've got most of the little bits and fittings attached to the main deck as well as the beginnings of the aft and midships superstructure.

Image

Here is the main superstructure/bridge. Lots of tiny parts here and PE, which tested my patience and eyesight.

I drilled out some of the portholes to give the ship a little life.

Concentrating on the after superstructure and deckhouse. I’m not following the directions. THey have you complete subassemblies with all the little bits and parts and then attach to the deck. Good recipe for disaster.

I have completed the smokestack here and it included some very fine PE that really tested my patience. Aft of the stack are two dual 2 pdr pom-pom gun tubs. I still have to add the PE ladders to them. Further back, is the after deckhouse. This has the auxiliary helm and dual gun directors for the 2 pdr’s. There is still some work to be done on straightening the PE deck railings here.
