I've got to agree with Raoul, the contrast is just right, anything more could look a bit cartoonish ;)

I don't mind cartoonish now Adam, as long as it looks ok when I'm finished

Just a small update from me. I did some preliminary paint work in the engine bay and added a pin wash on the hull.

I'm reasonably happy with it so far. :)

I've given the hull some streaking, dusting and chipping as part of the pre-weathering stage. I feel it looks suitably grimy.

I'm finally finished with my pre weathering. The drive sprocket and idler have been highlighted and I've added some texture to the lower hull sides to simulate some dried mud. This is what the Stug looks like now.

The B & W Technique I'm using calls for a transparent layer applied randomly and I think my gray base coat ticks the boxes. The previous work is still visible and provides a guide for the next step.
I'm happy with the result. :)

Looks fine to me. You definitely master the B&W technique.

Okay, I've given the Stug its first coat of oils. These are a combination of Raw Umber and Black, applied very thinly. I've only done the upper hull so far but I'm not sure if the pics show just how much of a change there is. :)
I'm looking forward to doing a few more layers over the next couple of days. :)
