The Diamond patch

Post by Vlad Seabrook-Smith »

Most of you know I love my engineering vehicles, and over the last few years there has as we know been a renaissance in allied releases!
So I've been slowly gathering stuff :D
This will be a collection of builds, just to keep things tidy  thus the title!

My first build will be this bad boy from Mirror Models, this also includes the extra etch set, resin wheels and the 50cal mg ring, all from Libor at LZ models. I have been bursting at the seams to do this for ages now :D

Image

The mountain of sprues, squeezed into the modest box, not quite everything shown.

And the extras

And some reference material, these are brilliant showing every detail right down to the air lines! I have shown the M19 transporter book, as there is a little cross over and a taster of what will come in the future ;)

Now we all know MM kits can be tricky, this one is no exception!

Wow Vlad

You don't do anything by halves do you!

Looks like a seriously complex but interesting project.

I shall join the gang in the stalls to see how this all develops.

No such things as halves Steve!! :D

Thanks for the interest guys :D

Philipp, you asked about tows, or how to display....... there are so many different options its untrue! The 969A was used extensively and went on to become a very useful vehicle in civilian service, so the options for display and colour scheme is limited by the builders imagination. Some examples.

here combined with the Rogers trailer, carrying a Hetzer

Image

I'm led to believe this is in the far east, An Australian Staghound in Japan, the effects of big AC's and narrow roads.

Image

A 969A attached to REME, another use for one of those nice little Bren carriers

Image

One for John and his love of the Jeep

Image

And my personal favourite, which nearly became a contender for the artillery group build  it comes to something when you need a dozer towing a wrecker to free an artillery piece from the gloop!

Image

Mine will probably not be any of those  Anyway I have made a little progress, its slow going as lots of smallish parts, but they require a good clean up :( there is small amounts of sink marks in the plastic, nothing a little filler wont fix.
If TLC is given on the clean up, fit is very good, instructions could do with a little development, they are a little confusing in places so care and attention is the way forward.

Image

The chassis ladder is borken down into its individual components so again care etc otherwise its going to cause a lot of issues further on!
Slow going but progress, Currently pondering on fitting the airlines :?:

Every single one these photos would be just about perfect for a diorama

Interesting, the one with the Hetzer is a Swiss version.
