Re: Simca 5 Staff Car

Looking good Philipp, the weathering has really brought it all together!

Re: M247 Sergeant York (Takom 1/35)

I am extremely impressed with the degree of detail. Takom has taken things to the next level with their latest kit offerings, the build quality of Tamiya but with lots of fine detail. No need for aftermarket PE here! :D

Re: M247 Sergeant York (Takom 1/35)

Steps 13-16 This is the fenders. Dry fit everything, some of the locating slots are too tight and need to be cleaned out. 2F8E307B-84EA-4718-AECA-65E552AFC0C4.jpeg The recovery/tow cables need to be assembled insitu, I would suggest gluing on one tow eye, install G1 and the tow eye, then “thread” on...

Re: M247 Sergeant York (Takom 1/35)

Finally finished the two track runs. The instructions suggest 78 links per side but this is way too tight, 79 seems to work for me. If you install the return rollers and complete the track runs as a loop you will need to install them prior to installing the fenders otherwise you won’t get them on. I...

Re: M247 Sergeant York (Takom 1/35)

Good thing you caught it in time. How are you applying glue to avoid gluing pins to pads? Very carefully….I’m using the medium Tamiya glue, mine has been open for a bit so is on the thicker side now. It stays where you put it unlike the thin which runs everywhere. Just takes a lot longer to set…luc...

Re: M247 Sergeant York (Takom 1/35)

Steps 10-12 Tracks and wheels. I thought the wheels would be tedious as usual, but the tracks take it to new levels. 78 links per side, 6 pieces per link. The tracks are designed to be assembled in six link blocks. The guide horns are installed as a “gang” still attached to the sprue. This, however,...

Another 28 pieces per side gets you to here,

Re: M247 Sergeant York (Takom 1/35)

I knew absolutely nothing about this vehicle before I read your build Adam. Sounds like a good idea gone bad. The cast texture on the hull is nice. Is that what you get in the kit or have you added some texture? Vincent Hey Vincent. The cast texture is really well done, as are all the casting marks...

Re: M247 Sergeant York (Takom 1/35)

Step 6-7 This is the back deck. Nothing special here, I used Tamiya slow setting glue for the major sub assemblies as it’s all built from flat parts, again with no locator pins. I went with the slow glue so I could make minor adjustments all the way through to keep it all square. 804C3163-0EB6-43EE-...
