Re: Sherman Based Vehicles

Thanks, guys! I have had some bad experiences with finishes by not waiting long enough for things to cure, so I'm really careful about it now. I'd rather set a model aside for a month to cure good and hard than have subsequent steps and materials start lifting the finish beneath. At the stage I'm at...

Re: Sherman Based Vehicles

Well fellas, I've seen a lot of nice work on this thread. Here's the end of the line for mine before our end-of-month deadline. I've been kept away from the bench by some pressing matters in the real world, and this where the SLA M50 sits now. Base color is on and has cured; I need to do the camo bu...

Re: Sherman Based Vehicles

Sure like what I'm seeing here, fellas...everybody's builds are simply superb. As for me...it's Prime Time! I've shot a couple of coats of Tamiya Fine Surface Primer on the beastie, and fixed a few flaws which popped up. Surprisingly, the only casualties from that rework effort were a couple of the ...

Re: Sherman Based Vehicles

I'll join the rest in their utter amazement  ! Best regards Raoul G. Kunz Glad you fellows like it! For me, this is lightning-fast so some things aren't done to my usual standard. Kitbashing the suspension was done to save time, though the Dragon return rollers are a bit too large. I also pu...

Re: Sherman Based Vehicles

Just about there on the assembly now. I still have to attach antennas to the bases and get the idler wheels cleaned up, and I haven't started on the DS tracks yet. But the tank itself is pretty much done; oh wait...also need to put the base for the big searchlight on the mantlet. I'm on my second se...

Re: Sherman Based Vehicles

Shaun, check out Panda Plastics at www.shermantracks.com. They sell the T49 in indy-link form, and a nice jig to assemble them in.

Re: Sherman Based Vehicles

In fits and starts, more progress has been made on the SLA M50. In the photo below, the front now has completed hatches with Shapeways brush guards, and thinned-down lightguards from the kit. I've been unable to get my Shapeways versions to survive the process of removing them from their backing she...

Re: Sherman Based Vehicles

It's been a rough week so far and I simply had neither time nor energy to continue painting, so I started on the tracks instead. This may take a while.... :? http://i573.photobucket.com/albums/ss177/pille85/M4A3E8%20Firefly/031_zpsc166414f.jpg Philipp Amen, brother! Eventually I'll be doing the sam...

Re: Sherman Based Vehicles

Just a couple of detail shots today. Steve Reid sent me a box of goodies which arrived Monday, containing my sprocket rings and modified M50 gun crutch bits: http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k509/GregBuechler/SLA%20M50/DSC07686.jpg And I had to do something about Tasca's incorrect mountings for t...

Re: Sherman Based Vehicles

Ok, this has been making slow progress amid various distractions lately. I'm using Dragon side boxes, the latch detail isn't great but I don't have time to mess with it. I added standoffs and hinge detail to dress them up a bit. The jerrycan racks are in process; these are excellent 3D-printed parts...
